Muscle Shoals Studio - Page 2
As we began planning for the session, it was decided to just shoot for four songs. These would then be combined with the remaining eight or nine songs to be recorded here, in our studio. This seemed to be a safe bet as we had 24 hours of time over 3 days reserved at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. Dave hare and I would go down which would cover the drum and guitar tracks. I would also add some piano tracks as needed. We would then hire a local bassist, keyboardist, and a couple of backup singers. For the keyboardist the primary objective was the Hammond B3 skills as that was to be integral to the sound. For background singers we were looking for female vocalists that had that gospel, church fee.
The engineer for the project, Chase Brandon sourced the perfect piano and B3 man, Clint Chandler. Clint plays with a number of musicians and bands in the area. He has also done session work at the studio, so a great fit. At first it looked like David Hood himself was going to be our bassist! I got a chance to speak with David on the phone. A truly wonderful guy. Just called, introduced himself and talked about the upcoming session. Wow.
David located the two female vocalists for the project. Cindy Walker and Marie Lewel.
